Authentic sound that'll make you smile

All vibe. No fluff.

A legend refreshed

Say hello to the DA 87SE. Inspired by the best of the DA 87i. Brought to life by the K87SE capsule. A standout performer in any scenario — the perfect 87 workhorse.

If you’re after the sound of the original Neumann U87i from the 60s and 70s, we think you’ll absolutely love the DA 87SE. It’s a no-compromise, no-frills mic that delivers the classic sound you’ve been chasing — and at a price you’ll love even more.

Vintage circuit design

Beautiful inside and out

The DA 87SE uses the same 87 style circuit as our renowned DA 87i— without the additional switches for variable pickup patterns, low-cut, and 10dB pad.

And just like the DA 87i, the 87SE uses high quality materials and components, including Panasonic FC capacitors, WIMA capacitors, polystyrene capacitors, and tight-tolerance resistors.

The K87SE Mic capsule

Hearing is believing

Thanks to the K87SE at its core, the DA 87SE delivers the unmistakeable sound of history's most iconic studio microphone.

The K87SE is made from all-brass backplates and imported gold-sputtered Mylar for authentic vintage performance that delivers warm lows and silky smooth highs.

Custom Output Transformer

Wound to perfection

Our all-new DA-BV13 output transformer was developed specifically for our DA 87i and 87SE circuits.

With a high nickel core and historically accurate 9.5:1 winding, the DA-BV13 delivers the exceptional bandwidth and low-phase shift you want in a world class microphone.

Hearing is believing

Dachman got it right

The DA 87SE is a beautiful sounding mic. For VO work it's got the flattering accuracy I want. Warm, detailed, but not harsh on the high end. Mids are well represented too. Can't hear the difference between this baby and a U87ai.

Using in my pro studio (yeah on REAL projects)

lol I love when people say “I never write reviews” but honestly, I probably have never written more than three or four reviews in my life- so here’s my review.

As someone who operates a truly professional recording studio, it's important for me to convey that when I say "pro," I mean it. My studio handles overflow for large studios and boasts the same multimillion-dollar gear. My engineers and I have worked with some of the biggest names in the business, and I have friends in some of the most renowned studios worldwide. Growing up in the music business and even living with Michael Jackson for a while, I have a deep understanding of what true professional quality entails. Additionally, I’m friends with Klaus, famous for modding microphones, which speaks to my extensive experience with high-end equipment.

Now, this microphone doesn't compare to my original vintage sets – each of which sounds unique – but it stands out in its own right. If you have a discerning ear, you'll realize that no two mics sound exactly the same. The real question is whether this microphone delivers the quality, vibe, and tonal palette you expect from a professional tool. The answer is a resounding yes.

My only complaint is that I wish I could have purchased a matched stereo pair because I intend to buy more. I'm using this microphone for drums, guitar, vocals, and effects, and it excels in these applications. I have other mics I love as well, but if you're aiming to build a professional home studio, don't rely on just one mic. Use this alongside others to properly construct your soundscape.

In summary, this microphone is amazing. It delivers exceptional quality and versatility, and a beautiful vibe, making it a valuable addition to any professional or high-end home studio.

P.S. This through a Neve 511 -> SSL DYNAMICS -> Joe Meek Comp = Gorgeous!!!!

Amazing for live sound

I am the front of house engineer for a grammy winning bluegrass band and we purchased two DA 87SE mics to use for live performances on stages big and small. These mics blow all of the other single (dual) mic setups out of the water. The tone is so warm and balanced out of the gate. Feedback rejection is also really solid and because it's so balanced, room tone that is picked up represents what's being broadcasted in the room so it just adds an ambience and not a comb filtered sound.
