Authentic sound that'll make you smile

All vibe. No fluff.

A legend refreshed

Say hello to the DA 87SE. Inspired by the best of the DA 87i. Brought to life by the K87SE capsule. A standout performer in any scenario — the perfect 87 workhorse.

If you’re after the sound of the original Neumann U87i from the 60s and 70s, we think you’ll absolutely love the DA 87SE. It’s a no-compromise, no-frills mic that delivers the classic sound you’ve been chasing — and at a price you’ll love even more.

Vintage circuit design

Beautiful inside and out

The DA 87SE uses the same 87 style circuit as our renowned DA 87i— without the additional switches for variable pickup patterns, low-cut, and 10dB pad.

And just like the DA 87i, the 87SE uses high quality materials and components, including Panasonic FC capacitors, WIMA capacitors, polystyrene capacitors, and tight-tolerance resistors.

The K87SE Mic capsule

Hearing is believing

Thanks to the K87SE at its core, the DA 87SE delivers the unmistakeable sound of history's most iconic studio microphone.

The K87SE is made from all-brass backplates and imported gold-sputtered Mylar for authentic vintage performance that delivers warm lows and silky smooth highs.

Custom Output Transformer

Wound to perfection

Our all-new DA-BV13 output transformer was developed specifically for our DA 87i and 87SE circuits.

With a high nickel core and historically accurate 9.5:1 winding, the DA-BV13 delivers the exceptional bandwidth and low-phase shift you want in a world class microphone.

Excellent Mic’s

I purchased these to use as vocal/instrument mics on stage for a string band and they perform flawlessly. They’ve been very easy for house engineers to manage and the tone is excellent. 10/10

A Mic That Stands On Its Own

Even as a mic that was created to emulate the vintage U 87 i, a bigger and more fundamental question must be posed first: Does this microphone stand out on its own merits? In the case of the DA 87SE, that answer is unequivocally “yes!” It is a high quality condenser microphone that is remarkably versatile, that for my purposes has performed well beyond expectations for spoken word/VO recordings. It embodies many of the excellent qualities that the vintage U 87 i is well noted for in overall.

Additionally, the build quality of this number is truly excellent, bar none. If you take good and thoughtful care of this microphone - it will take good care of you for years to come.

For the money, this mic was a steal. I would recommend it to almost anyone recording in a properly treated space, seeking a big-boy recording experience who cannot realistically drop $3,500 for a brand new modern U 87 Ai - let alone a vintage U 87 i.

Also, if you find yourself in the position of having your mic on camera, the DA 87SE really shines. I am particularly fond of the midcentury kitchen appliance yellow for my model.

All in all it was a great buy, and is a lovely addition to my mic locker.

Wonderful Microphone

I have owned the DA 87SE for a few months now and it is amazing. I rerecord a bunch of my songs after I got the microphone because it sounded so good. I have mine going into a WA-73 EQ to a WA-1b to a UAD Apollo Solo and it is awesome. I have two songs now submitted to streaming. My Kendrick Lamar Diss and Why Did You Go? both recorded with the DA87SE.

An amazing microphone. Tested it on some vocals and love the sound. Saving up to get another one of their products.
