It is an awesome mic
Great sound and a super solid build. I’ve used it on kick drum and bass amp and it sounds perfect
It’s gorgeous on acoustic guitars, warm and crisp on lead vocal and has the handling to be a superb-sounding guitar amp mic as well. I used to own a vintage U47 FET years ago and this is indiscernible from the original to my ears. Warm, sparkling, fat and lush vintage tone - love it.
I truly don't get into many product remakes, but I saw the price tag on the FET 47 and had to give it a shot. It's great. In the positions I use a 47, such as kick out, amps, this does it all with the life and thrill of the original units. The price is also unbeatable. The DA 47 FET feels like a sturdy and well made piece of equipment. Time will tell on its durability and longevity, but I am more than happy so far!
Here's my bias regarding all gear: I plug it in and if it stays plugged in that informs me there's something there I like, something is working. That's it. My first DA was the 87SE, then the 87i. Couldn't be happier with what they do. I wasn't prepared for what I got with the FET 47 - the experience was "where did the mic go?" What came through the playback felt like the sound I hear in my head - my organic mind plugged into the computer... super natural!! Elegant mic!
